Molly Ruttan grew up in New York, however she and her twin sister Linda spent most of their childhood in a world of their own, drawing, singing, dancing and making things. She now lives in Los Angeles with her husband, daughters & mother, as well as (at last count) three dogs, three rabbits, two mice, a tortoise, and fish…
During her childhood, Molly experienced short adventures in violin and trumpet, but always yearned for drums. In high school Molly sang in several choirs, but finally realized her passion by becoming the drummer of the high energy punk-pop band called Sally Dick & Jane, which included three other members of Phideaux. They played many New York clubs, including CBGB’s and Max’s Kansas City. Meanwhile, Molly continued on an artistic path, attending the Cooper Union School of Art in New York and graduating with a degree in Graphic Design. She moved to Los Angeles and established a career as an Art Director, Graphic Designer and Illustrator.
After moving to Los Angeles, Molly became the drummer for an-art rock band called Planet of Toys. This short-lived project was followed by many years as the drummer and back-up singer for a psychedelic folk rock band called Garden Variety, which released several albums.
In recent history, Molly performs occasionally with a percussion alchemy group called Glank, sings in a community choir, and takes great pleasure in being a part of the continuing adventure and musical landscape of Phideaux.
